Will the current leaders make it? In recent years, new leading fish have been weighed in on the final day of the Derby, such as John Smith's boat bluefish in 2005. The lesson is clear: it's not over until it's over. As you fish for that winner, remember to continue to practice good sportsmanship and safety.
When the dust settles at 10 pm on Saturday, both the skilled and lucky fisherman who remain on the leaderboard can finally exhale. Please join them and the Derby Committee at the 61st Derby Awards Ceremony, which will be held on Sunday, October 15, at 1 pm at Outerland (at the MV Airport). Admission is free, food will be available, and the Derby raffle promises to offer some incredible items.
We have surpassed 3000 registrants again this year. Thanks to your participation and the generous support from our sponsors, the 2006 Derby can already be considered successful. And it's not over yet. Good luck as we wind down.
