Twelve wounded warriors were on-Island to fish the Derby from September 20-23 with Project Healing Waters and the Nixon family (owners of the Beach Plum Inn). See the 2010 Derby Booklet for more details. The Nixons hosted this now-annual event, the Menemsha charter fleet donated boat charters, and Janet Messineo (with the Trustees Of Reservations) took them surfcasting on the beach. They slammed the bass and blues and had a great trip, thanks to the efforts of many people who volunteered their time. We thank the Nixons and everyone in the MV business community who helped make this event possible and all of you who came down to HQ and thanked them for the sacrifice they made for the rest of us!
